TRAIN WITH THE DISCUS BAR
THE DISCUS BAR

The discus bar is designed to help build your discus specific technique, strength, and speed. On top of that, the discus bar allows you to train even in poor or cool weather conditions. The discus bar mimics the feeling of the discus while giving you more control as you throw, and does it better than other discus training tools.

When to throw the discus bar:
Use the discus bar when you can’t throw a discus due to weather conditions or as a regular part of your training to develop your technique, strength, and speed.

-
For Technique - throw the discus bar (same weight as your discus) when you are working on a specific part of your technique. Because of its stable design, it allows you to make changes and think about specific parts of the technique without having to worry about holding the discus or having it fall out of your hand.
-
For Strength - throwing a discus bar that is above the weight of your competition discus builds strength in the throwing motion. I suggest using a discus bar in this manner for athletes who already have a proficient spin technique. Perfect for off-season and early-season training.
-
For Speed - successful throwers are fast and throwing a discus bar that is slightly lighter than your discus can help you move through the ring faster, with confidence, and can improve the speed of your release. When throwing a discus bar, the center of mass is just beyond the end of your hand, compared to the center of mass near the center of your hand when throwing a discus. This creates more speed at release that you can actually feel! Perfect for mid and end of season training
